RMA 105 Radiochemistry Laboratory Health and Safety Program

This course introduces laboratory personnel to risk management principles as well common hazards and exposure risks, including chemical, physical, and radiological hazards that are found in the IEMA Radiochemistry Laboratory (RCL). The course provides instruction on how to prevent and/or reduce exposure to these hazards and emergency response procedures. The course covers basic radiochemistry safety principles for sample handling, preparation techniques, and waste handling procedures. The course provides required information on specific RCL policies and procedures for working safely in IEMA laboratories. The course also provides information on engineering and personal protective equipment as well as the dosimetry surveillance program established for radiation workers by the IEMA Radiological Safety Officer and Radiation Safety Committee.
